Queer Black Futures

2021Curated by photographer and producer Jasmin Porter, this collection highlighted a different queer Black artist each week.

A 2019 Study by Williams College revealed that only 1.2% of artworks in major US Museums are made by Black artists, and that fewer than 1% are made by Black women or queer Black artists. This is why Gia Coppola Wine is proud to collaborate with Allies in Arts in launching the 2021 Collection: #QueerBlackFutures2021 in order to uplift and celebrate queer Black artists who haven’t yet been exhibited in major museums.

Curator Jasmin Porter highlights a different queer Black artist each week via Instagram features about their influences, practice, and what’s needed to support their careers. Participating artists work across many mediums - from poetry, photography, and dance to installation, music and filmmaking. This virtual exhibition will grow into a dynamic series of artworks celebrating queer Black artists to be enjoyed throughout the year.
